Honor Balzac, dit Honor de Balzac (1799-1850) est un romancier, critique littraire, essayiste, journaliste et crivain franais. Il est considr comme lun des plus grands crivains franais dans le domaine du roman raliste, du roman philosophique et du roman fantastique par Grard Gengembre, G. Vannier, le philosophe Alain, et Albert Bguin. Charles Baudelaire voyait en lui un visionnaire. Son oeuvre monumentale, La Comdie Humaine, cycle cohrent de plusieurs dizaines de romans, nouvelles, contes philosophiques a pour ambition de dcrire de faon quasi-exhaustive la socit franaise de son temps ou, selon la formule clbre, de faire concurrence ltat-civil. Il nhsite pas, en pleine Monarchie de Juillet, afficher ses convictions lgitimistes. Autres titles de Balzac comprennent: Jean-Louis (1822), Clotilde de Lusignan (1822) et Wann-Chlore (1826).
